Vitoria, June 17, 2020.On June 17, the Spanish association of bio-companies (AseBio) has released the AseBio Annual Report 2019, which includes the situation and trends of the biotechnology sector in Spain. This year, the presentation of the Report was in digital format.

In the section referring to the production of scientific knowledge by Spanish companies, the BTI Biotechnology Institute stands out as the Spanish company with the highest number of publications in high-impact scientific journals: 25 in total.

The data collected in the 2019 Report definitively consolidates BTI Biotechnology Institute as one of the Spanish companies with greater dedication and involvement with R&D, since it is the fifth consecutive year in which the Vitoria-based biotechnology company is located as the number one company in scientific production in Spain, since it was already ranked in the ASEBIO Report 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

For Dr. Eduardo Anitua, founder and scientific director of BTI, “when we founded BTI, more than 20 years ago, we were clear that the company's priority objective had to be to generate scientific knowledge and develop new treatments to improve the quality of patients' lives, which is why BTI makes a great research effort. That this is reflected in the Report that AseBio carries out annually is a great encouragement to continue researching and developing new advances in biomedicine”, concludes Dr. Anitua.

The AseBio Report, which has been published annually since 2003, is the reference publication for the Spanish biotechnology sector. The report includes the main statistical data on the evolution of the sector, collected by the INE and analyzed by AseBio, and information on the production and transfer of technology (patents) of national biotechnology companies and on the flow of investments it receives. the sector.
