New Scientific Article in OOOOE

The scientific journal Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontology (OOOOE) has published a scientific article signed by Eduardo Anitua and Gorka Orive on the concept of de-osseointegration, based on the results obtained in a trial in which a total of 42 patients took part and 91 implant extractions were carried out.

The article, entitled “A new approach for atraumatic implant explantation and immediate implant installation”, provides a new approach for the extraction of the implant in a simple, fast and atraumatic way, enabling the replacement of the implant during the same surgical period. 

 

The new extraction system by BTI for dental implants consists of a 200 N/cm counter-torque wrench, which thanks to its high torque, breaks the union between the bone and implant, facilitating its extraction. In the event of exceeding 200 N/cm, the wrench bends and will not allow further turning. The replacement of the implant is carried out by means of a cylindrical part.

 

The extraction torques were from 80 to 200 N/cm and in the cases where they exceeded 200 N/cm a 2-3 mm deep incision was made using a set of trephines.

 

The possibility of extracting osseointegrated implants opens new doors in oral implantology. The extraction kit allows the extraction of osseointegrated implants when they are no longer functional or are unnecessary in a new prosthetic situation, achieving the best results for patients.
